The
mission of the Nevada Center for Excellence is Disabilities
is to work cooperatively with consumers, family members,
and professionals to assist Nevadans with developmental
disabilities of all ages to be independent and productive
citizens who are included in their communities.
Family
TIES of Nevada is a statewide nonprofit organization
directed by people with disabilities and their family
members. We are also the state affiliate of Family
Voices, a national organization speaking on behalf of
children and youth with special health care needs.
Living life full with the daily challenges of
disability and chronic health concerns takes courage
and endurance. At Family TIES we have a very personal
and clear vision for those we serve. Our staff and
board members either have a disability or chronic
illness themselves, or they are the parents of
children who do.
The
Nevada Governor's Council on Developmental
Disabilities engages in advocacy, systems
change,and
capacity building activities for people with
developmental disabilities and their families
in order to promote equal opportunity, self-determination,
and community inclusion.
